TL;DR: Working with starryai, we implemented a comprehensive SEO strategy that allowed us to optimize and expand our web pages and content based on specific keyword priorities, resulting in a 50.7% increase in non-branded organic click and a 4.2% increase in keywords ranking in the top 3 in Google.

The Challenge

Increase organic traffic and conversions from top-performing non-branded search terms in an increasingly competitive industry.

Prior to reaching out to Tuff, starryai.com experienced a drop in organic rankings for their top 15 keywords. Their average position fell from 19 to 27 month-over-month. As a result, there was a 46% decline in monthly organic clicks from these keywords, plummeting from 62,592 to 34,111 clicks.

The Strategy

To kickstart our plan for boosting starryai’s online visibility and organic revenue, we dove into their Google Ads account, pinpointing the top 15 performing non-branded keywords. We wanted to understand their impact on conversions, conversion rates, and revenue. These keywords gave us a clue about how crucial they were in driving revenue when ranking organically.

Once we had this list, we analyzed the current organic rankings for these 15 keywords. We checked their monthly search volume, how tough they were to rank for, who the competition was, and more. What we found was that these exact-match keywords had slipped in average ranking from 19 to 27 over the month. That dip caused a hefty 40% drop in both organic traffic and conversions.

Armed with these vital keywords, we crafted a strategy that focused on a few key areas:

  • Revamping the Homepage: Most of starryai’s organic traffic landed on the homepage, which had suffered the most significant losses. Our priority was beefing up this page with SEO-friendly content and tweaks for better on-page SEO. We spruced up and expanded the content and even added an FAQ section.
  • Creating New Landing Pages: We noticed a lot of organic traffic, both for starryai and their competitors, went to landing pages. We saw a chance to create more landing pages for starryai’s features while targeting those core keywords and variations like Text to Image generator and AI design generator that hadn’t been tapped into before.
  • Enhancing User-Generated Content: About 10% of starryai’s organic traffic came from user-generated content, but it wasn’t driving conversions as expected. We got tactical by including targeted keywords in the SEO titles of this content.
  • Building Programmatic Search Pages: We seized an opportunity to develop a scalable SEO tactic with programmatic pages based on what users were searching for within starryai’s web app. We drafted a list of top keywords to structure our strategy around, ensuring these pages were well-rendered and visible to Google.
  • Going International: To widen starryai’s reach, we translated core landing pages into languages spoken in the top 10 countries where starryai had a strong user base.
  • Content Game Plan: We built a detailed content calendar, centering on topics that mattered most to starryai’s audience. Think articles on the perks of AI image generators, comparisons between AI drawings and AI-generated pics, and tips for mastering AI art.
  • Tackling Technical SEO: We also took care of technical bits, like ensuring consistency in the footer across landing pages to improve internal linking and beef up overall SEO performance.

The Results

Once we put our plan into action, we saw quick results: A 50.7% boost in non-branded organic clicks, increasing traffic from 49,300 clicks in September to 74,300 clicks by November.

On top of the non-branded traffic boost, we made serious headway in organic keyword rankings, improving them by 6%. Our average keyword position went up by 12.2%, jumping from 11 to an impressive 9.8!

We also saw a solid 4.2% increase in the number of keywords ranking in the top 3 spots. Plus, our targeted queries like “free ai art generator” and “ai image generator” saw some impressive month-over-month increases in organic clicks.

This all-out strategy really paid off for starryai.com. Our organic traffic and visibility in search engines shot up, proving just how effective targeted SEO efforts can be in a competitive digital landscape.
